Jaguar XKR 4.2 (2003): Limited version?
Discussion
I am considering this 2003 XKR, which is at a Danish specialist, having been imported from Italy.

1 owner, 52.000 km, full JSH, new tyres + brakes, "perfect" condition.
Strong money perhaps, from a UK view, but cheaper than equivalent ones in e.g. Germany.
However, did Jaguar ever do a "Limited" version?
I know of the "100" but that was only for the 4.0 or also 4.2?
Also, any pointers on reliability on the 4.2 and 6 speed gearbox over the 4.0 and 5 speed one (I am aware of the chain guides on the 4.0).
Thanks,
Anders

Most of the problems on the 4Lt were sorted with the 4.2Lt
As a Member of the XK8/R Club I know the second hand value is a lot more in the rest of the EU against the UK
Can I suggest you join the www.xkec.co.uk you will find a lot of valuable info with in the club

Visit www.xkec.co.uk , you should be able to access the model histories etc. The car is not a limited edition, I quite like the interior

I just bought one in the uk with that interior combination, I specifically didn't want one that was all black (too dull, it isn't a VW!), but also despite loving the looks of ivory leather didn't fancy trying to keep it clean. I find the black/red a perfect combination and in my opinion makes it look slightly less of an old mans car(all be it an old man with taste).
Can't answer anything about the special edition though.

I am having my Recaros done in a similar fashion, dont think I will go as far as the centre console though, I do think that looks a bit too much.
But I do like the seats and door card combo
But it is not a special edition, more of the original owner having special taste, be that good or bad in your eyes...... And I like Paris wheels too

There is a lesser known special edition XKR 4.2 that was brought out in 2003 called the XKR400. It was built to celebrate the 400bhp milestone, in a general production model, for the first time in the company's history.
There were 3 colours, midnight black, platinum silver and slate grey. The interior had unique alcantara and leather seats. The dashboard was piano black with aluminium highlights to the instruments, gear selector and pedals and it had BBS montreal wheels and brembo brakes.
Unfortunately the car pictured above doesn't appear to be one of these but they are out there.

And specifically, there is one at Redline Specialist Cars in DoncasterThere were 3 colours, midnight black, platinum silver and slate grey. The interior had unique alcantara and leather seats. What's wrong with that? That's the end of its life. Until then it probably went fine.Sealed for life as Jaguar say is untill it goes BANG

Impressive. What do you consider to be regular?
How do you rate the Mercedes box against the others?
I would change the oil every 60,000 serviceHow do you rate the Mercedes box against the others?
That is the BIG service anyway so do the gearbox as well
I've no problem with the MB gearbox, seems to take all the power I give it
and the ratios are about right
Personally I feel the ratios in the 6 speed ZF are wrong
1st is to low and 6th to high so you are then using it as a 4 speed box
Jaguar also brought out a run out of the original my2005 XK in the form of a XK-S this was produced in 6 colours only and has a yew wood finish and is fully loaded with every option.
I have a 2005 XK-S in Bay Blue. They have a slightly larger front valance and nose. Distinguished by its White bordered Jaguar round badge.
