My wife has had a r53 MCS for the past 18 months but it wasn't until the weekend when I was driving home through country lanes after a night out with friends that I noticed the two spotlights mounted on the front grille don't work, I've check the fuses, bulbs, connections and there all fine. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

have you tried doing a simple earth test? trace the earths and make sure they have a good connection to the body! if that doesnt work try the live to earth and see if you get a spark, if you do theres no problem with the wiring! only other thing i can suggest is the connections have come apart in the back of the lamp? or the back of the switch? hope this helps, try a auto spark but youll be paying out at least £50 call out fee

There is another fuse hiding in the compartment behind the air box, its on a plastic block about 1"x1" there is a little fuse in there too.

If that is fine then its a case of checking to see if you have power at the lights, then worth a call to any bmw dealer to check that the car came with spots from the factory as they may be after market and someone may have done something wrong

Had the lamps apart to check the bulbs and they are both fine, due to a little corrosion on the earth point on both units I check the earth continuity and that was also good, but there is no live feed on either.

Think I need to find the in-line fuse lurking behind the air box, sounds a likely culprit to me.

Are the spot lights are activated by the main beam stalk or the fog light switch on the center console?

Cheers for the help guy's.
