As you may of read (or seen at the Sunday Service) I have just purchased a second classic toy (the first being my 1967 Series IIA Landie (on her own page about the restoration here... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...)

A 1968 Volvo 131 Amazon with a silky smooth B18 engine

Took her on the 120 mile round trip to Gaydon Sunday, was smooth, quiet (loving the overdrive) and comfortable to a point I may swap my Landie touring plan and take the Volvo (fuel consumption tests pending)

I love Amazons even though I would never own one, they seem quite robust made as there's still some of them being used as daily drivers.

Why would you never own one? (just a question ). Apart from the fuel consumption (which I was expecting)I've been impressed with mine, smooth, comfy, roomy and people seem to love seeing the old girl (had a bloke shake my hand in the pub when he found out who own the "beautiful Volvo outside" . Took her 120miles Sunday and enjoyed every min .

Beautiful. Great choice. My 122S was one car I really regret selling. They actually feel quite modern to drive despite their age. Yours looks in lovely condition from the pictures. Here's mine when I had it:

No problem, I appreciate them and think they're really cool, but I could never see myself in one. Italian cars are more my thing.

James Dean - Fair enough, have a soft spot for the Volvos here (first car driven and my first car were Volvos)
