Video: P4/5 Competizione - Behind The Scenes

The what, why and how behind what is fast becoming an iconic racing car

As D-day for Jim Glickenhaus's magnificent Ferrari P4/5C Competizione race project draws ever-closer (that's 25th June, by the way - the date of the Nürburgring 24-hour race) interest in the unique privateer race project is gathering pace.

Now, having shown the car being put together, and having seen it being put through its paces, we now get an insight into the whys and wherefores of its creation. Jim's frank openness is great to see, when so many race projects are shrouded in secrecy.

So, if you want to know what McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray thinks of the car, or how Ferrari tried to stop it being made, click on...

Yeah, very weird video. There was a lot more eating and drinking (is there a tie-in with kool aid and capri sun?) than real nitty gritty. The assembly shots were nice. It's nice to hear the story behind it, but let's be honest, we're all more interested in the actual car.

That's put me right off. Nothing gels and they don't seem to be that enthused. Comes across as 50cent goes racing.

Whatever you think, hat's off to him, he has the money to do it and he's making it happen, whatever people think.

Takes balls and a big wallet. Whatever it ends up like i can;t wait to see it speeding down kesselchen in the middle of the night.

Agree. If I was a multi-millionaire, I'd rather build some cool race car than pi$$ money down the drain 'investing' in a football club. Much less stressful and more fun.

Kool. This video is well kinda you know and far out.
As I was saying to Lewis and Jensen the other day it's awsome. And then there was the other thing which Enzo used to mention so often. But I preferred Eric Clapton's view.
When he called me, I'd just gotton off the phone to Mario [ Andretti ] who kinda sort of you know and also spoke about the day he was at Elvis's house.
