Front suspension knock

Hi all,

Started to notice a knocking noise from the front suspension when I come over the speed bump at work. Presumably this is a worn ball joint, not sure top or bottom - is it best practice to replace top and bottom both sides and be done with it? Is the knock likely to be anything else?

Could even just be the bonnet moving up and down, As the front rollers wear the bonnet can move a fair bit.
Easy to isolate, just jam some foam under each edge and see if the clonk remains.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll get the car off the ground and have a look. The noise reminds me of when the drop links failed on a Peugeot GTi I once had, do these cars have a similar arrangement?
