Insuring a road going competition car

Insured my Clio 172 Cup with Richard Egger last year but at £360ish I'm hoping to find something cheaper when it expires next month.

The car is used for hillclimbing though it is also used as my daily commuter/run around. It has a few modifications & the Richard Egger policy allows these, the main downside to their policy is lack of glass cover & the cost.

Any suggestions of who else to try? I have 2-3 weeks to get this sorted.

£360 for a modified 172? Seems cheap enough...

I'd say that is pretty darn good. I pay a similar amount on my 106 Rallye track car.

Glass cover is a bit pointless on something like a clio- hunt around and you'll be able to get a new screen fitted for about £80. As long as you don't get through more than 1 every couple of years, you're better off just paying cash when you need one.

I agree with the OP that seems pretty expensive, I used to run a modded twin turbo supra and the insurance went up around £20 from when it was stock.

I also dont pay much more than £360 to insure the Tiv.

Contacted Competition Car Insurance but they were about £200 dearer than anybody else! Looks like its my renewal quote of £365.00 then
