Last Thursday Group Captain Tom Barrett (on the right in pic below)was killed on the A40 riding home to Beaconsfield after work. He was a customer and friend of mine, only 44 years old and already had been awarded an OBE. He was a smashing bloke and its a very sad loss, he helped me organise a 99th birthday treat for one of my oldest customers last year who is an RAF veteran and is still going strong, we flew him in my friend's R44 and had lunch at the officers mess.

Bugger.... I saw the incident signs this morning out on the A40 near RAF Northolt for that date, so I guess this is why.

99 years in & it's this that gets you...

I can't read the article, what was he riding, not a pushbike...on the A40!

Got to say in Waynester's defence I though it was Mr Binks that had died. And though the same "What was he riding".

But my deepest condolences to Mr Barret's family and regiment.

As has been said, You never know.

I had to read it several times as well, the photos of the old gent confuse the issue; one thinks it's an RAF veteran that's died at 99.

As others have mentioned, it read to me that old chap had passed away!

I had put RIP, & adding sincere condolences, so I don't think I need delete.

You just don't expect him to be the one that's passed away (which is where I think the confusion arose)

very sad
