Getting chairs through doors
Discussion
I need to get hold of some new armchairs and a sofa for a room at the top of the house but don't want to end up buying something that won't fit when it is delivered. I know removal bods are pretty good at wangling stuff through small doors, but is there any critical chair dimension or angle of back to seat in relation to the door size that determines what would go through?
This possibly ^^^ doesn't describe what I am getting at too well, but I think you will know what I mean

The usual dodge is to turn the chair on its side. If the distance from the floor at the bottom back of the chair to the back of the seat arms (or seat if it doesn't have arms) is greater than the width of the door opening then you may have problems. Obviously helps if the door can be pushed right back.

Take the window out and hoik it up the outside of the house on a block and tackle. Done it a few times, bit of a giggle and always gets everyone out of their houses to watch.
My accountant did that with a big chest of drawers. On the way down the wind caught it and it spun and swung inwards, smashing his front window
Whilst taking the strain he was braced against an upstairs radiator and that moved and started leaking too...

I've always liked the way houses in Amsterdam lean forward & have a big beam & hook at the top to make moving in easy.I have this:
