Anyone recognise this brand?
Discussion
Long story, but I have a shower waste installed without any water trap/ u bend and is therefore letting bad smells into the bathroom.
The waste is concreted in, so removing it is the last resort.
Ideally I want to find out who the manufacturer is, and buy the bits for the inside. The only marking is an "A" with a dot in front of it, as you can see below.
Can anyone help? I've tried loads of stores, just get blank looks :-( Any ideas where else to ask?

Where does the waste pipe go to? Does it join up to other pipes outside?
There seems to be a slot with nothing in it. Perhaps there was a trap there originally that has been removed in the past.
I am I correct in assuming you have inheited the feature?
No not inherited, but we are no longer on speaking terms with the builder who originally fitted it (solicitors letters only unfortunately). He left it like this, with the empty slot. It took us a while to work out where the bad smells were coming from. There seems to be a slot with nothing in it. Perhaps there was a trap there originally that has been removed in the past.

The pipe goes under the shower tray (solid concrete) and then under the floor to join the toilet waste. No access without smashing up the bathroom

If I can find the manufacturer I would be prepared to buy a whole new unit, just to get whatever goes in that slot!
Ok, I've had a google at "wet room drains" and found Waterworld:
http://www.h-i-e.co.uk/acatalog/WaterWorld_WetRoom...
Not exactly the same top but very similar, there is even a logo on some of the pictures which could look like the 'A' you have but the pictures are not clear enough.
I looked becuase I couldn't see what was missing from your trap to make it work, I've not seen one like that before, so my natural curiosity got the better or me.
It's just a bucket you're missing, a shaped tray that fits in the space. Like this:

Unfortunately, the Waterworld websites seem to be dead.
ETA, actually, I've just had another look at your picture and that doesn't make sense becuase the hole in the plate across the fornt of the drain pipe would always allow the water level to drop below that of the drain pie and therefore let air up form the drain back into the room, unless the tread plate air tight seals at that end. Does it?

At present it doesn't, but you can see there's a space for a rubber seal to fit around the rim of the top part of the drain (and there are no holes in the cover for that part) so I guess it could be airtight . Edited by Piersman2 on Wednesday 16th March 13:44
I don't quite understand how the bucket system achieves an airtight seal from that picture though?
No wonder your not on speaking terms, he's ripped the guts out of that. I can see that this might not be the only bit of sabotage, any other problems.
Just waiting on my plumber here on site to get back from the other site so he can take a look at it.
That's if he gets back today that is.
I'll post up what he says.
