The other half and me are off to Boston MA next Tuesday (22nd March) for a four day break, anyone got any must do’s for out there?

So far a visit to the Barking Crab is looking like a must for the fisherman’s platter (as seen on Man V Food) and the OH wants to go to Salem so it might only be me coming back if the locals are feeling like a bit of a BBQ, lol biggrin

Anything else worthwhile we need to see while we’re out there?

USS Constitution is good for half a day. Make sure you do the tour of the ship.

JFK Museum is worth a look, but they gloss over all the more scandalous stuff.

Don't know if you're sorted for accommodation, but this place

is out of this world. Sanctuary Room was perfect.

Try to avoid anything to do with Cheers.

OK, thanks, I will give it all a look, thanks for the quick response.

I know the ‘Cheers’ bar all looks a bit lame, I think I read there are three of them now!

Staying at the Hilton if the financial district so think we are OK there looking at Google earth and having a virtual walk around the streets, looks like there are a few bars and diners there.

Salem is offically rubbish, unless cheap and tacky tourist tat is your thing.

The Science Museum is pretty good and has the world's largest Van de Graaff generator, which is simply awesome.

Whale watching tours are a great way to spend an afternoon.

Take the T out to Harvard and wander round the university, see how many film sets you can spot. Some pretty good eateries out there too, plus the John Harvard brews its own beer. On that note, the Cambridge Brewing Company (in Cambridge, oddly enough) also does excellent micro-brews.

Duck tours are a Boston tradition and a good way to see the sights.

Catch a Red Sox game if you can!

Boston's a great city, well worth exploring and I really enjoyed my time there a couple of years ago.

Must sees.......

Go for a walk at dusk through Beacon Hill.... it's rightly famous and a lovely place to spend some quiet time.
Check out the Holocaust memorial near Faneuil Hall, very moving
Walk the Freedom Trail and visit Paul Revere's house, it's a little touristy, but great for getting a bite of American history.

As the poster above mentioned, Salem is really only good for parting the tourist from his Dollar, that said, the Salem Witch Museum isn't too bad and the place as a whole has a nice vibe.
If you can, head to Marblehead on the same day, it's a short distance away and equally nice to wander around.

If you fancy some more tips, you can check out the daily blog that I did on my trip here:

If you fancy a trip out of Boston take the train to Rockport. It's on the coast and a great little town to wander around for a couple of hours.

That's where I stayed as well, hired a holiday cottage for 10 days... a really nice little place to wander around, in fact that whole area is filled with loads of little townships and villages, each cuter than the next!

Thank you all for your suggestions smile

From the looks of things we will be getting some snow over the next few days so that could be a pain but it will be the perfect excuse to go to the science museum. The other half still wants to go to Salem so I will have to just go along with that.

K50DEL, that was a fantastic blog mate, I was in NY when the waterfalls were all set up, was nice to see them again.

Oh well, guess I had best finish packing and get sorted, leaving the house at 5 and on the BA0213 at 11:00 out’a here tomorrow.

Thanks again all wavey
