I've got one, but it needs an engine!
Discussion
So i've acquired an S reg 1.8 Mx5, and get this. It was free! But it needs an engine. What is a normal price for a replacement engine, not exactly looking for a low low mileage one, but that would be a bonus. There's a company on ebay that will supply and fit for £995, but I don't really get to check the engine myself and there's only a 30 day warranty. So what do you reckon? I'd like to keep the car for myself, but if it's possible to make a decent profit out of it, it will probably go.

Put a big TVR V8 in it...
I'd rather have an LS3 to be honest.OP I got my replacement engine from JunkYardDog on Nutz, it cost me ~400 and was a MK2.5 engine with 75k on it.
Depending on your chassis and how involved or not you want to get with electronics, pretty much any engine year will drop straight in with very little work

If its a 1.6, it should be fairly cheap.
I had a 1.8is engine put in mine. Drive in and out was around £1300. That was with Freelance Mazda in Chatham (highly highly recommended). This includes a year/30k warranty (including as many trackdays as I could fit in).
The 1.8is engines command a slight premium for some reason. For a 1.6 I think you'd be looking at £1000 or less, certainly no more.
