Going by previous threads in this section there's some folk in here with really good taste.

Hopefully you can suggest some TV series for me (and others that may be reading).

Here's where I'm at:

Currently watching: Mad Men, done 2/4 seasons so far, like it very much. And Justified Season 2.

Favourite three: The Wire, The Sopranos, The Shield

Also enjoyed: The Corner, Band of Brothers, Treme, Boardwalk Empire, Justified.

Watched and it's OK: 24, The Pacific, Law & Order

Watched and it's not so good: Lost, Prison Break, The Event

Where to next?

Homicide: Life on the Street may be worth a go.

Also Generation Kill.

Dexter, and Breaking Bad are worth a watch. If you want something funny then try Eastbound and Down, or Weeds.

If you are a fan of HBO series;

Deadwood

&

OZ

Both are really engrossing shows imo.

And I notice you haven't listed 'The West Wing' either. Absolutely brilliant that is!

for comedy;

30 Rock

&

Arrested Development

Really clever comedy & very well written. Especially the latter.

I've just spent the last two weeks watching the series 'Edge Of Darkness.'

Funnily enough it was recommended on an earlier thread.

It was superb - it reminded how rare good acting and a good script really are.Won many awards as well.It's as good as 'The Wire',if not better,and

leagues ahead of stuff life 'Boardwalk', 'Madmen' etc.Honestly it was seriously,blindingly good.

The remake of Hawaii Five-O on Sky1 is suprisingly good, as is NCIS: Los Angeles, butboth are near the end of the current series.

May be available on some kind of catchup service?

Or any of the CSI brand - there's current series of Vegas and NY running at the moment, and always countless repeats of older episodes on Dave, Watch etc.

If these are your favorites, look out for Sons Of Anarchy, its on Five Usa at the moment. Written by the same guy that made The Shield.

Sons of Anarchy? I think it's fantastic. Not much in the way of acting but some good action.

TBH I didn't get into to it right away (the same thing happened with The Sopranos and Broadwalk Empire), took a couple of episodes but now I think its great. In my view one of the better series put there.

Sons of Anarchy has good pedigree.

created by Kurt Sutter, writer & producer of one of the finest TV shows - The Shield. He also happens to be married to Katey Segal.....

I knew PHers would deliver, there's plenty of stuff there that I haven't tried.

Should keep me going for a while, cheers.
