Hi there, I've just joined and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out.
I'm looking at getting a Porsche 924S very soon and am having a nightmare getting a reasonable insurance quote. I'm a 25 year old girl and the car is going to be parked on the street in South London! But the bit thats seems to be causing me a problem is having no No Claims Bonus - purely due to not having a car for the last 4 years.
Can anyone recommend someone who might insure me for a sensible figure?
Thanks Sian

(Just noticed this may be in the wrong category, is there any way of moving it?)

and welcome!

You could try Direct Line, I'm with them and own/drive a TVR. They do seem to be very competitive and you can pay in monthly instalments if you wish.

Good luck

Welcome to PH!
Have you tried any of the specialist/classic insurance companies? I'd recommend Carol Nash. I'm 27 and pay £495 for my S2 with a 4k miles classic policy. With some classic policies you may require a second car though...

I've tried Carol Nash and they won't touch me because the car isn't garaged. Norwich Union want £1400, Adrian Flux won't touch it, and the best I've had so far is Elephant for £855 with a 6000 mile restriction.

Try Footman James, www.footmanjames.co.uk offer a wide range of 'flexable' polices for the older car

Hi, I am in Insurance Broker and you might find that the Porsche now has "classic" car status depending on its age, there is a broker in Leeds who has a classic porsche scheme where the bonus is just ignored anyway for people who have these cars as second cars, let me know if you need some help

Hi Graham,

That sounds really helpful, the only problem I have is that the Porsche will be my main car not a second car. I have looked at buying an old banger to have as a first car in order to put the Porsche down as a second car, but by the time I tax, mot, service and insure it and insure the Porsche on a classic policy, it'll probably cost more than I'm being quoted to insure the Porsche at the moment!

Try RH Specialist Car Division - they advertise on the back of 911 and Porsche World magazine

I have my 944 with them for £180 limited to 5K per year. I was thirty when I took out the policy
