Hi all,

I've got an odd brand dishwasher ('Diplomat'?) which doesn't work. It's integrated, and has a wood panel over the front. I think it dates back to circa 1997.

I want to buy a cheap integrated 2nd hand Bosch/Siemens dishwasher off eBay and fit the current front to it - does anyone know if the fronts to these applicances is a standard fit? Or am I better off just buying a non-integrated dishwasher (ideally I wouldn't do this).

Thanks in advance,
Nick

I've had two different types of these. The current one is straightforward, the panel to match the rest of the kitchen is screwed on to the dishwasher door. Not complicated at all - all you'll need to watch is that the control panels are about the same size, although you can get filler strips ISTR.

When we first moved in to our current house, the panel on the front of the dishwasher was spring loaded, so it actually swung out and up as you opened the dishwasher. It was a most peculiar and complicated thing, which I binned when we had to buy a new appliance, and I just screwed the old trim panel straight on to the front of the new machine.

I did have to cut a slot in the skirting (or whatever it's called) to allow the door to open fully, but that wasn't difficult.

Diplomat - An MFI(now defunct)/Howden's job - if you know a trader who has an account at Howdens, may get you a sizeable discount on a new one?

To use the door front, you'll need an integrated machine.

Cheers

No doubt the fixings and positions thereof will be different, but it's nothing a bit of ingenuity can't fix I should think. Mine (Siemens) is tacked on temporarily with d/s s/a velcro, then sits in two slots at the bottom, and is then screwed through from appliance to panel on the inside. Patience is required to get it just right!
