Dealer refuses to send me HPI!

I bought my current car from a well know (not main) dealer in Sheffield. The HPI was all ok bar finance. He said he'd sent the cheque and it can take time to show on HPI that it is finance free.
Fair enough- I have heard that.
But it was supposed to be sent by yesterday and nothing- I have phoned twice. On both occasions he said he was going to send it in the next 10 mns by email. Nothing.
Don't like this one bit but I'm not too worried- he's a dealer.

Well seeing as they do it for free- I'd rather wait for now. Besides- being a dealer if the worse came to the worse the law is on my side.
Why do they make such hard work over something that'd take 5 mns to send...
No idea whether it's true, but I read on here somewhere that HPIs are non-transferable. So if the dealer HPIs it and then you buy it and it turns out that the HPI was wrong, you have no come-back.Why do they make such hard work over something that'd take 5 mns to send...
Unless I knew the seller, I would always HPI a car myself before buying it.

If you are ever unsure about finance on a car the people to call are the finance company. HPI just report second hand information - if you want to find out who owes what you need to talk to the main people.
I suspect all is OK, it does take time to clear. First the finance company has to process it which takes some time then they have to tell the likes of HPI which also takes time.

Exactly what I did some years ago when I bought my MX-5 (god i miss that car). HPI showed finance owing, dealer said he paid the outstanding, I phoned the finance company and they said all was fine so I bought the car.I suspect all is OK, it does take time to clear. Also I would never trust a HPI report from any dealer, I always run my own. Doesn't cost much.
