Belgian GP gets a leg up from Shell

Just announced on autosport.com that Shell will become the title sponsor of the Belgian GP in a multi year deal commencing with this years race.
This hopefully allays the usual financial fears that always seem to hang over this event, in no small part due to the constant squabbling between the National/Regional governments.
Doubt if Shell have the clout to get the Walloons and Flemish to actually sit around the table and form a government, but the country seems to manage just fine, or as fine as ever anyhow, without one.
A lesson there for us all methinks.

Eric, Petronas Malaysian GP for the last 10 years, would really uposet my employer you don't know that. But makes me ask the question of if the Millions they spend on it may be a wast.
Although these are large companies, they have a relatively small profile in the UK. As far as I am aware, there aren't any Petronas forecourts in the UK.As I said abovem, I was thinking of the older established European automotive companies.

For the past 30 odd years European motor businesses have been reducing their involvement in F1 with most sponsors being from cigarette (now ceased of course), financial or new technology type businesses. It's nice to see one of the "old guard" actually sponsor a race.
