Has anyone got any suggestions for things to do, that may be a little out of the ordinary, whilst in Las Vegas?

I'll be in 'Sin City' for 4 nights in late May. This will be my third trip there but it will be my GF's first time, first trip to the US in fact. No doubt we'll do the usual trips to the casino's, shopping malls and hotels but is there much else to do? Sometimes it seems there is too much to see and you feel 'you can't see the wood for all the trees'

We'll probably have a budget of $500 to blow in spending money and a hire car at our disposal.

Thanks in advance.

Jay

Elvis-a-rama (Elvis Museum) was worth an hour, just off the main strip.

There's the Mafia experience place just opened up at Tropicana which is meant to be pretty good fun.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the grand canyon trips by road - the chopper ones are much better and you don't feel quite so ripped off when you get there - plus the pilots are usually really nice folks.

I gave up trying to see everything despite having been a few times, now I just concentrate on the plethora of ace bars and restaurants and pick something at random when it comes to sightseeing type stuff. For me a huge part of Vegas is just seeing the different hotels and casinos etc. The themes vary so much it's nice checking them out.

Go and fire some machine guns at the Gunstore in downtown LV. Great fun.
Chopper trip is worth doing too.

Gunstore is a definite...and just behind it is the pinball museum where you pay a set fee ($10 / $20) and play as much pinball on different machines as you like IIRC.

Get a midnight roof top pool party by yoursleves with just the girls who are paid to dance by the casino if you can.

Go to the hofbrauhaus for food, beers and a laugh

Go visit some UFC stuff as its the home is in Vegas

I'll think of / remember more

All these and much much more done for my stag / birthday bash in end of Maylast year

^^^ this! Everything from handguns to full blown, belt fed, machine guns available... usually vouchers online/in the local tourist guidebook thing.

Grand Canyon tour also worth a look - Maverick Helicopters fly direct from the business terminal of the main airport (so no hassle of bus to other airport nearer the canyon).

This is a must... http://www.imperialpalace.com/casinos/imperial-pal...

You could also head out to Lake Mead (30miles) and hire a V8 Power Boat.

Yep, Elvis-a-rama has closed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis-A-Rama_Museum

Shame it kills the only spot on the "Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota" trail that I'd visited.

I didn't get time to go when I was there, but I think there is an Atomic Testing Museum which sounded quite good.

I was there a few years ago and did that Indoor Sky Diving. It was great, and would highly recommend it!

Helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon. One we did stopped at a ranch where we got lunch, and got to do Lassoing.

Also there is a few Karting center's which was great fun!

Also, I would be aware if you're up at the North End of the strip, near to Stratosphere. Quite a few dodgy folk hanging about etc.

Big Shot at the top of the Stratosphere.
Also, take some time to look at the outside displays at the hotels - eg the fountains at the Ballagio (probably spelt wrong, but who cares).
Roller coaster on the outside of New York New York
Helo trip the the Canyon.
We also spent an evening just driving about in the hire car

Any self respecting Ph' er should go here http://autocollections.com/index.cfm?tab=main&...

They've got some interesting stuff! Looks like someone has sold them their Group B collection. Two 6R4's, three RS 200's and a couple of Lancia 037's for sale in the Nevada desert ?!?!

Jump off the Stratosphere - http://www.skyjumplasvegas.com/ - brilliant fun. stted myself doing it but would do it again without a 2nd thought.

Otherwise Vegas for me is looking around the hotels, eating way too much, drinking way too much, gambling and going to nightclubs. Good times.
