George comes across as smug while already having made up his mind on the issue. It was pointless him having any real input as all he did was snipe and talk over.

I think so to. Considering the sheer millions of motorway miles travelled every year, it seems indeed a low figure. I'm not convinced there is a real need to up the limit, given the fact that the de facto limit seems to be 80-90 anyway. I'd rather the present situation than to have radar man sitting on every bridge ticketing drivers doing fractions over a strictly enforced limit.

Does seem low. Also surprises me about how many people I hear of crashing/rolling their car and walking away without a scratch, and that's usually in tiny French boxes.

Considering how man miles of motorway there is, the volume of traffic on it, and the sheer range of intellegence that can drive a car, I think that's a pretty good acheivment.

As long as humans still have control, you will never get 0 deaths. Anyone who hopes for that is in denial.

Monboit really comes across as a utter tt in that 'debate'. I liken his attitude to speed in this to those who stated back in the day that anyone who used one of those new fangled trains would instantly die due to the speed.
