Building control notice

Submitted one today for internal alterations - having velux window fitted
Anyone else been through this recently, any idea what happens next? Left it with reception who just gave me a receipt, website says must be submitted two days before work starts.. Will they notify me work can start or will they want to come round prior to allowing this to start?

You can always ring them up (after 3pm generally), IME they are best to talk to early as they can tell you what they are interested in, and you can make your build easier by knowing. Unlike planning (a bunch of useless tossers) building control are interested in building methods etc.Anyone else been through this recently, any idea what happens next? Adding a velux window, doesn't that come under the heading of permitted development? Ie not requiring a building warrant?
Permitted developments are however planning issues, not building control ones.I suspect windows are building regs controlled now as there is the FENSA scam being run for windows now.
