I've just put my 3yo Datejust in a for a service, and have been quoted 20 (twenty!!) weeks for completion. The service was going to be carried out over 4 weeks by my local Rolex dealer but it turns out their watchmaker hasn't been trained on the cases used in the later Datejust models, so it's having to go to Rolex themselves...

Am I wrong to feel that's crazy-excessive, or is it par for the course for a service by Rolex?

Cheers

Andrew

Find a better dealer who is trained in the Datejust. 20 Weeks is a pi$$ take, frankly.

I've just had my Tudor back from a repair under warranty. The local AD told me that there are delays at the moment because the service centre is moving / (has just moved?) from Bexley.

My watchmaker mentioned that, too...

Thanks for the feedback, folks - guess I'll just have to grin and bear it!

£235 for a service on my GMT at William Rice watches in Beverley. He is a Rolex Authorised repairer and it came back in four weeks looking like new.

Rolex also now give a two year warranty on services . They may be a bit slow at the moment but quality of work and value is second to none .

I've had my Daytona serviced three times...twice by an independent and once by Rolex. The difference in quality is worth the wait.....

It's a PH thing. It means he has a Daytona, and I'm jealous!

The Sub had to go in after 5 years of everyday wear. My Daytona isn't due for a service yet . . .

I won't post what I have, but a watch, even a Rolex should not need a service at only three years old. One I bought was over ten years old and had never been serviced and was gaining about 5 secs/day so I thought it worth doing.

How so?
I don't have a Rolex, but the first time I sent my watch for a service it took 3 months to come back.
Second time I used watch doctors and they did it in a week for a third of the price and it came back in exactly the same condition as when it came back from the manufacturer. I could not tell any difference (i.e. the watch worked and looked nice). What more can they do?

I was given my rolex by my dad and he'd worn it for 35 years and hadn't really looked after it at all.

Put it for a service 10 years ago and it came back pretty much as new - back then it cost £105 for the service and it was worth every penny.

That said - I aint servicing it again - especially if it costs > £300 and will take half a year.
