Don't know if its the best, but I have a Drift Innovations HD 170, its not tiny, but it is light, full HD, lots of mounts supplied, has a rotatable lens which is incredibly useful and I have seen people wear them on helmets.

GoProHD get fantastic reviews. From the footage I`ve seen, they are top quality.

GoproHD for me. have a smartycam as well... prefer the Gopro. New LCD makes it even better!

Another vote for the GoPro here - heaps of mounts for pretty much every use you can think of, totally waterproof with the housing and pretty much bombproof, 170° field of view (127° in HD) and the video quality is superb. You can alter the exposure settings for in car use and battery life is about 2 - 2.5 hours.
IMO, best value for money out there!

Vid plus GPS laptimer with dataoverlay.

lap time, best time, splits and map layout.
G meter, throttle position, revs, gear, speed...all overlaid. All deselectable if not used.
