Which Euro satnav?
Discussion
I'm heading to France in June, off on a summer jolly and would like a satnav for the journey. I don't need anything with all the bells and whistles, just something simple, I'm not really bothered about live traffic updates etc.
It'd also get used in the UK for the odd trip away and occasionally for work purposes.
I've been looking at the TT Start or Start2, what are they like? Is it worth spending a bit more and getting a TT One instead?
Input appreciated, cheers!

I have a TomTom 730, which I have used in France on several occasions without problems. Whatever you choose I would recommend one with updated maps. Also try and find someone who is offering free map updates for an extended period. For example, I bought mine from Amazon with two years free map updates for Europe and the UK. Sadly my two years ended on March 12th, but I did update all of my maps the day before it expired.

Ive had 4 sat navs in the last 2 years. Just bought Tom Tom Via 120 Live, very good indeed. Google search, weather, traffic, voice recognition, new easy window mount so unit dosn't keep falling off screen, nice bit of kit for not a lot of money. And, its got a secret memory card slot (even though its also got 4mb inbuilt memory) that you're not supposed to know about because the 8000 series don't have it and they're more expensive! DONT GET THE 8000 SERIES even though they have a fluid glass screen, makes no difference!! Remember that the older units dont have the memory for the new maps, I talking from a lot of experience 6000 miles a year all over Europe the Via Live is the bees b

ks!Whatever you do, do not buy a refurbished unit from the TomTom Outlet Store, unless you want a unit with maps that are out of date.
I bought a GO750 LIVE from them, and the maps were over 18mths out of date with the only way of getting updated ones being spending another £67.60 !!!
Needless to say, it has been returned.

I had been looking at refurbed ones but wasn't too sure on the new maps thing so thanks for that, I'd like one with the most up to date maps thank ypu!
Having read reviews on the Start it seems ok just a bit basic and a fiddly little screen. I'm now looking towards Garmin, the 1340 in particular, looks a decent unit for the price, I think I'll pop into Halfords tomorrow and have a look at the 2 of them in the flesh.
Bargain at £80 surely?
