Morning All,

I have not long had turn laid and had bark put round the edges and I think it is Squirells digging and keeps lifting the edge and the soil out from underneath the turf.

Any ideas how I could keep the little buggers away and stop doing it as the turf isnt taking and keeps coming up.

Thanks

Les

A line of sacrificial nuts?

It might be birds looking for insects too - have you seen anything?

You could try spraying a watered down solution of Tabasco Sauce around the affected area.
Obviously you'll need to top it up after it rains but they should soon get the message. It works in lofts so its worth a try, and its a cheap option.

Could also be the local moggies buying their business. They'll love the nice big bark litter you have made for them.

Definitely could be cats too, they would always go in the same/similar place. Look for signs of the bark being 'scraped' in the 1 or 2 feet surrounding the area, cats will always try to cover their doings!

Also, if you're going to use pepper, use white pepper as it's stronger scented. They will get used to it pretty quickly (if they're like my little arse of a cat) so also keep swapping it between pepper, oranges and lemons, they hate the citrus smell. Fairy liquid sprayed liberally around it should do the trick too - they get it on their paws, try ot lick it off and hate the taste so avoid the area if they smell it again.
