The paint on my '89 Roadster is very patchy on the bonnet,ie large patches missing. I am contemplating stripping what's left on it and spraying it myself. I was wondering if something along the lines of Nitromors would be safe to use on the mk1 bonnet or if anyone had done something similar before and has any tips. smile

Nitromors will certainly do the job, very messy, protect the areas you don't want stripped or take the bonnet off.

2 things;

Do you really need to strip or would a rough rub down take the loose stuff off?

If back to bare metal remember it's aluminium and use a suitable primer.

Thanks smile There's a couple of large patches where the paint has come off, but the rest is firmly attached. It was the aluminum aspect that I was concerned about regarding the nitromors. As you may have gathered, I'm a bit of a newcomer when it comes to bodywork issues.
I shall pop to the local motor factors in the morning and ensure I get an appropriate primer smile
