In Pics: Goodwood Festival Preview Day

Something to whet your appetite for the FoS in July

Ah, spring. The daffodils are showing, the grass has started growing, and young love is in the air. Down Goodwood way, however, there's also a whiff of unburnt petrol in the air, for yesterday was the preview day for the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

While the big news was Aston's new AMR-One car, and the UK debut of the Jaguar XKR-S, there was plenty of other fabulous metal around to whet our appetite for the event proper (30th June - 3rd July, for your diaries' information) - including plenty of E-Type Jaguars, helping to mark the model's 50th anniversary.

Since they say a picture is worth a thousand words, we thought we'd illustrate the story with a few thousand words' worth of images, courtesy of snapper Nick Williams (NWVT).

Tickets are already booked! Group of us doing Thur-sun and camping. No traffic queues, plenty of beer, plenty of noise. Can't bloody wait!!!!!!

Went the last three yrs consecutively and it's now just too big to try and do in a day.

Plus it's a good petrolheadlads weekend away from the ladies and kids biggrin

Where are you camping? Been trying to find a suitable site (even though I only live up the road).

the campsite 'on site'

It's the one opposite the main gate, by the Richmond Arms pub. It's all on the G'wood website.

Sure it's probably a bit (a lot) more than 'other' campsites, but they're not at the front door are they biggrin

I went for the first time last year, and promptly hated myself for having never gone until then. Doing all four days this year and I cannot wait.

Went to last years Moving Motor show with a few mates. Don't think ill be able to go this year...
Pity.... there's some serious metal there. And the Cartier collection took it to new heights!
Really want to go, but will have to miss it.

What differences are there between days? I mean...going every day seems a little over the top. I'm only saying that because I neither have a gf or petrolhead friends to come along with me.

Also, will the new Lambo be there?

Think I'll go on my own... (cue the violins)

:P

Riggers, do you have any photos of any of my runs up the hillclimb in my 8C Spider per chance? It would just be nice to have one in the archive......

Many thanks!
