Alternator problem

Hi
just wondering if anyone has a part number for alternator for 2.5.Was supposed to pick car up today after spraying work and apparently the alternator has a crack in it?.

Car started fine before it went in(been in car bodyshop for over 4 months).Also how easy a job is it to replace and could an amateur like me tackle it

I would imagine it is a similar job to changing one on the 3-0. I swapped mine last year and it was fiddly by not too bad.
You do need some access under the car and the higher you can get it the better as you need to wriggle it particularly when you pout it back in.

Cracking is not uncommon even though they stil work..

I spoke to a friend and he said they can seize if car is left standing(his was standing for only a month) and when attempting to start the pressure can cause it to crack.
I will have to speak to the insurance company but I feel I should not have to pick up the bill on it as the engine was running fine before it went in he didnt turn the car over once in the last 4 months he has had it i know this would not help

you could be clutching at straws there but its worth a try.

Yes was thinking that two well if anyone has a part no would be great then I can try to get one tomorrow
