Oak kitchen worktops
Discussion
Nearly finished sorting the kitchen and it's time to fit some new worktops. I really like the look of oak and am looking at fitting some. One question though is how do they hold up to the day to day abuse in a kitchen? Mainly areas round the sink and food prep/spills.
Also does anyone know anywhere close to the Wirral that sells them for a reasonable price and also supply lengths at 3.5 to 4 meters as I really don't want to put a join in halfway down the surface.

I fitted some a while ago for my mum.
Few coats of Danish oil and they are standing up extremely well. No stains or marks, even in wet areas.
I got them on-line from www.woodworktops.com
No issues with them at all (except the bloody weight of a 4m length)

There is a blog here http://www.armstrongjordan.com/blog/?cat=9 about kitchen worktops, yes it's my blog and now I feel a bit of a sad loser
but hopefully it may highlight some of the good and bad points.
