Of course it's possible to fit ITBs, but why? With the costs involved it would make more sense to just buy a quicker car.

Get a set of Jenveys (http://www.jenvey.co.uk/) approx £600
Get an aftermarket EMS (http://www.dtafast.co.uk/) approx £500
misc fuel system parts and fittings approx £100

so total approx £1200, will probably add maybe 20bhp to your engine without any other changes

I wouldn't bother, when you consider you could just buy a Gti-6 for that money.........

That isnt a figure.

That could be £5k a month, or £50.

I'd recommend a decent service and a wash ocasionally!

If you want to do some sensible mods, then most of the suspension and brakes from a GTi-6 will go on, giving you much better handling and stopping ability. You can also fit the 6spd g/box from a 6'er, although it won't gain much on your engine (and you will loose some of your ability to turn right)

It's simply not worth trying to get more power out of the engine really, the cars intake and exhaust are actually pretty good as std, so you are unlikely to gain more than 1 or 2bhp with a full exhaust change (which other than making a right fricking racket, you won't notice in terms of performance)

Me, i'd save my money, then buy a gti-6 in a years time!!

Open a bank account and put the cash in there. Then buy a faster car when funds permit.

anyone know what compresion ratio these engines are? Just thinking Forced induction might be a more sensable route to more power (assuming you are sticking with the engine).

THanks,

Chris.

No point whatsoever going to the expense of bolting throttle bodies onto the side of a an engine that is so restricted by it's cylinder head. If you must keep the 1.8 bottom end for whatever reason, put a GTI-6 head on it to start with and then think about further breathing improvements.
