Help - urgent info on BMW warranty

Hi

I am looking at privately buying a used BMW 1 series coupe, it will be 3 years old on March 22nd. What I want to know is can i extend the BMW warranty as a 2nd owner and also the warranty runs out the day I buy it.....

Can I extend the warranty with a couple of days gap between?

Cannot talk to BMW till monday.

I suspect that it needs to be continuous. You can extend it as the 2nd owner. You might get away with it if its just a weekends between renewing, but it's not something I can confirm.

The warranty should be transferable, so worst case, pay the current owner the monthly / yearly rate and get them to extend it ?

+ 1. best option.

Or else get the warranty yourself from Mondial, I think you are not allowed to claim on it in the 1st month, and maybe a bit more expensive.

My first-hand experience of BMW motorcycle warranties is that they do not have to be continuous. I took out an additional warranty several weeks after the manufacturer's warranty expired.

As it's a third-party product anyway, I could have done far better with someone like Warranty Direct had I known. Hindsight is wunnerful!
