Does his current bike licence count as a provisional licence in terms of driving a car?

Can he just book a lesson with a driving school and get straight on with it?

Unless the licence covers class B, then the answer is no.

Unless he remaps the car, thus altering the gearing, the answer is no

Well, I just spoke to the DVLA and they said that his current full bike licence included a provisional for driving a car.

IIRC he doesn't have to re-do the theory test, just the car driving practical test.
