Avensis wheel size dilemma

Hi, new member Steve here. Have bought some OZ alloys 17 x 8 for my 2001 Avensis. Am thinking about fitting some 235/45/17 tyres on the rims but am not sure if they will be okay. Any boffins out there can gimme a clue ??? Cheers guys

what size are the origionals ?

The original tyres are 195/60/15

196/60R15 has a rolling radius of 625, you should remain within 615 - 635 tolerance (-2%/+1.5%) - 235/45R17 come out at 650 - so a bit out - a 235/40R17 (630) would be closer. Hope that helps!

I can't answer whether the wheels will fit for you - that depends on the car/suspension/clearance - I can tell you that a 235/45R17 would be the wrong size tyre - it is too big (Your speedo will be out, they may not have the right load/speed indices). Spacers would not help this - don't know if anyone has an Avensis on here with 17's that might be able to give you a better idea of clearances though.
