Changes to the e46... engine (318 & 320)

hi any 1 that could help me with the engine changes they made...
i know from 1999-2002 the 318 had a 1.8 engine they changed later to a better 1.
did they do the same with the 320? aswell or has that been the same though out?

also lil info on the diesels... looking at a 320cd/d i heard the turbo's let go... anyidea how to sort them out b4 they go or is it a big job of replacing the turbo's with a new 1 etc..

The 318i gained a 2.0 16v 140bhp engine when the E46 was facelifted in 2001.

The 320i was introduced in 2000 and remained the same throughout the E46's life - it was a 2.2 litre 6 cylinder engine with 170bhp.
