windscreen replacement
Discussion
We had ours done by Autoglass as a stipulation of the insurer. What a crap job they made first time - Non TVR screen and I could have fitted it better. This was despite telling them that we wanted a TVR part and that any damage they would have to pay for - managed to chip paintwork (white pearl) and take chunks out of the leather. Good job second time by someone who had a vague idea of what he was doing but they said they couldn't match the paint and their idea of leather restoration was to dab it with a marker pen (which incidentally wa sthe wrong shade of green and now looks worse). Don't trust them to have the car again so currently in dispute with the insurer.
If I had the choice again I would insist on who I went to and if need be change insurer on this basis for all the trouble and hassle it has caused.

Hello, my windscreen needs replacing and i just wondered if anyones used auto windsceen or a company like that to have it done and if so what were the results like??
ps is it a tvr item or off the shelf (92 4ltr griff)
cheers Andy
Andy, when I had my Cerbera I had to get a new windscreen fitted. I went to RAC Windscreens in Luton (just down the road from Mr Clutch near B&Q). They were excellent. Let me watch them do it and took a lot of care. They managed to get windscreens (not from TVR) quickly. They rejected two before they got an acceptable one 'cos I told them I was really fussy. I'd have no worries about using them again.
I've been down the autoglass route, 1st was none TVR windscreen which didn't fit, waited 6 weeks for one from factory (they said manufacture in Finland were on holiday)and autoglass still didn't do a very good job.
My insurers insisted that autoglass did the job so I gave them hell I will avoid them at all cost in the future

my jag had a cracked screen 2 weeks before i traded it in for my griff they aranged to come out and fit it but didnt turn up because of bad weather fair enough i thought then they phoned me to come down and have it fitted so i put off other things and went to aldershot branch and low n behold the f in idiots didnt even have a screen in stock
they finally fitted the screen at my home while i was at work and when i got home, it had a half a foot scratch along the wing and half the rubber seal was hanging out baring in mind that i was trading it in 20 mins later
obviously my insurance company got there ears chewed off and politely told them not to use them in future
lucky for me racing green were very understanding
but i would never use them again
try old school windscreen's
