What do people use to mount the Air Conditioning Compressor on a LS7 engine?

I currently have a GM PN 12556677 bracket (I think it’s from an LS1) and idler pulley system however it sits too far forward by about 5 mm.

Please note the set up looks like a bit of bdized set up so it may not be standard solution but all ideas and pictures are welcome.

Your setup looks the same as on my LS2

It may just be camera angle but the second photo looks as though the belt tensioner is out of line and moving the belt over on the bottom pulley. Is there a problem with the tensioner?

That's the issue the idler pulleys are too far forward and the compressor is too far foward but not as much.

It could very well be a bracket from an LS2.

i have a bracket for a LS3 if that helps? the LS1, LS2 and LS3 all have different damper spacing, that will be the alignment problem. I have a LS7 in my workshop i will measure the spacing tomorrow and then i should be able to work out which bracket you need.

That would be much appreciated Kyle.

I don't beleive I have a standard damper on engine due to the installation.

I've attached the picture below with mesurments.

The top line is 6mm (inside/back edge of pulley) from the indicate point and the lower line is 7.6mm (outside / forward ednge of pulley).

would it be possible to see a picture of the damper? Is it a standard LS7 damper? The damper, water pump and tensioner should all be ok so if i can see the damper i should be able to work out what air con bracket you need

As far as I know it's NOT a standard LS7 damper though I don't have the ATI part number to hand.

Here are some pictures of engine front end when it was removed from the car.

Please note the mesurement given previously should have been 60mm and 76mm.

Thanks again for the help.

.....just as a side note, you could ditch the top left idler shown on the photo, and fit a shorter main belt. Theres plenty to drive the water pump by going direct to the remaining idler/tensioner, top right. Does help give a little more room around the front when installed.

Good luck.

Kyle, that would be great. I you could include some mesurements especially related to the LS7 you have there it would be a big help.

Hi Kyle,

Did you have a chance to take the measurements?
