430 Coupe or Spider
Discussion
I'm presently considering selling my 997 Clubsport GT3 and replacing it with a 430 but I'm not sure if I should have a change and try a Spider. I test drove a spider yesterday and was very impressed with it. Felt very balanced and gear box was a treat. I'm just wondering will I find the spider a bit soft after a while.
I enjoy a little spirited driving at weekends and after the handling abilities of the GT3 will the novelty rub off?. Opinions would be appreciated. By the way I'm looking at early cars F1's in the low to mid 80k budget( perhaps not relevant).
Or shall I keep the GT3?. Wrong forum for that I suppose

Spider is slightly better looking i think (when roof is down).
I take it you dont fancy a manual gearbox example as i think these 2 are very nice for the money.

Had exactly this quandary and the F1 v Manual debate before buying my F430 F1 spyder recently.
Debated the pro's and cons for over a year whilst I found the exact and rare spec car I was after. Could of ended up tossing a coin between the coupe and spyder ( if the rest of the spec was spot on, Rosso Corsa Red, Med Crema Racing seats, Ceramics, carbon Challenge Rear Grill,Sat Nav etc ..... )as there are pluses and minuses to both.
Eventually after much consideration ( and canvassing lots of other peoples opinions ) I did decide on both the F1 and spyder and I have to say I don't regret either decision. F1 is fantastic and the wind in the hair and noise experience more than makes up for the hard top of the coupe.
Must admit if they made a F430 GTS like my F355 that would have been my ideal choice but as I don't tend to use it other than locally on sunny weekends the soft top is not really a compromise and I think the roof lines and mechanism are far superior to the old F355 spyder which I would not have considered.
