Just wondering what sort of price to expect to pay for tyres for a 172?

Whats best to get?

I just had some Michelin Pilot Sport 3's put on my 182... it's transformed the car.

Pricey, think it was £105 ex VAT each fitted, but, with a high performance FWD car the tyres really are the most important bit.

Cost will depend on if it's a phase 1 with 15 inch wheels or phase 2 with 16 inch wheels.

I used to run Yokohama Parada's on my phase one they were about £35 + fitting and seamed reasonable

I run Goodyear GSD3s on my 182 and they are great. Better ride than the standard Exalto, quieter and no loss of grip.

I run Toyo Proxies on my ph2 172... I wanted to put GSD3's on but my mate couldn't get them for me.

The Toyo's are good though... I got them quite cheap as it's a mate at a tyre fitting place.

I've run all the options above, bar the michelins. The Hankook V12 Evo outshone them all.

I have Toyo T1-Rs on my 172 (16"). They are by far the best for the money (about £60 a corner I think?). But if you can afford more, then there are better tyres further up the price range (like those already mentioned).

Personally I am looking for 15" replacements to use my car on track, and at £33 a corner T1-Rs are bargaintastic!

I found T1-Rs to be a bit useless in the wet and damp conditions, resulting in understeer much sooner than other tyres.

I can't fault Uniroyals Rainexperts and Rainsport 2, they have always been great in the dry and absolutely brilliant in the wet and the rainexperts are only £38 for 15"
