Am staying in Reading at the beginning of the month for the night (Sat). Have booked into Malmaison which should be nice.
Have the option of staying somewhere on the Fri night as well so looking for a good hotel with a great restaurant. Could do a pub with accommodation if romantic and good food !
Need to be in Reading for midday on the Sat so not too far away.
Anybody got any experience of Audleys Wood ? - looks nice on the web but reviewws are poor elsewhere.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks one and all!

I've been to a number of one day conferences there. An amazing place! No problems with recommending it although I've never stayed overnight. Oh, if you have a helicopter they have a helipad and I've been there when people have flown in for lunch!

Budget?

If you want proper 5* and romantic then Cliveden isn't far and Le Manoir is within an hour

This place is just the other side of Basingstoke and is very good. Might be more expensive though but has been recently renovated. Have a look at the rooms photos. smile

Ok, it's only 4* but - £95 for room AND 7 course meal (and it's in Reading...).

I'd be staying at Malmaison on Friday too, and dining at L'Ortolan in Shinfield.

Depending on which direction you are coming from you could look at this which is West of Reading:

or this which is East:

Both very nice in different ways and both do great food.

No it isn't - that's £95 for a room and a 7 course meal each (drinks are extra).

Used the offer a few times!

Cancel Malmaison and spend two nights in the Forbury instead.

Malmaison is right in middle of town with station and bus rank opposite....

Depends where you are coming from but Crazy Bear in Stadthampton is the nuts and has bags of personality and great food

Did you get separate bills?

I hate this kind of thing - that offer isn't available for £95. It costs £190.

It really isn't - in fact it's worse than I thought as I forgot the VAT. It should be illegal to feature ex-VAT prices. So the price is really £228. Not £95.

You can't actually book it online anyway as none of the Friday or Saturday nights I tried work - even the voucher purchase failed.
