I looked at the BBQ last night and it is covered in mould frown

So, I need a way to clean it, I've googled, but nothing has stood out, there are lots of different opinions.

I obviously don't want to scrub with a scouring pad or anything, so what is a good solution?

Fire it up and try to burn some of it off.

Then buy some Oven Pride - put the grills in the bag, put the cleaning solution in and let it do its stuff overnight.

Should come out as good as new.

Light the BBQ and put the lid on with nothing on the grate 300c for 10 mins should kill any bug known to man or you could just take the grate of and give it a wash.

Should have said, its a coal webber...

I was thinking of just using the hose to rinse anything off, then giving it a turn with some coal.

Oven Pride is good, but it's still a domestic (read: Weak as piss) product. I got hold of some commercial grill cleaner (liquid spray) made by Johnson Diversey. Spray on, leave for a few minutes and wipe off. It's called Suma Grill D9 and it's bad ass...!

As has been said, set a great big heap of charcoal alight in there, shut the lid and it's done.

Mine was exactly the same when i looked at it yesterday.
I can confirm that 15 minutes on full and a scrape of the remaining black stuff will be fine.
I tested my theory with two lamb burgers and i can report back, no sts.

put bbq on as hot as poss for 10 mins, let it cool then take loads of silver foil off a roll, scrunch into a ball and scrape back and forth like a maniac, throw foil away, put bbq back on, cook

You shouldn't clean the grill, you just fire up th ecoals and once the grill is at tempreture, give the grill a going over with your bbq wire brush.

Cleaning the grill with soap is the same as cleaning a wok with soap, you lose the taste. I learnt this by cleaning th egrill of my weber with soap in front of a South African. He looked at me if I had just poo'd on his boerwars.

My grill has not seen soap since then, about 18 months ago.

This isn't really an option unless you want to pebble dash your patio with splatterings of mould and fat.

The answer is - to clean the BBQ before you put it away for the winter tongue out
