Britcar Round 1 Silverstone 26th March
Discussion
I can't put up an entry list as I haven't got a copy yet but I have heard that in GT, Class 1 has 6 entries plus 2 invitation cars, Class 2 has 4 plus 1, class 3 has 8 plus 1, approx 22 in all bar late entries or withdrawals.
Production has 11 plus 1 in class 1 and 4 plus 4 in class 2, so about 20 or so
It appears that the starting grid will be plus 40 cars if everyone turns up or makes the start, which seems very reasonable for the first race
Cars in GT include:
2 x Moslers
4 x 430's in various specs
1 x Ultima GTR
1 x Aquila CR1
1 x Rapier SR2
2 x lamborghini's
2 x Marcos's
1 x Viper
1 x 933 RSR
1 x 360
2 x 997's
1 x Ginetta G50
1 x Mazda MX5 GT
1 X Lotus Elite
1 x KTM Xbow
Production class has 5 x BMW's,4 x Honda's,6 various Seat's,2 x lotus Elise, 2 x Ginetta's and 1 Nissan 350Z.
As an added attraction, one of the Seat's has an all female driving team who are out for their first race or so I understand. I'm sure everyone wishes them the best of luck for a safe and successful first outing and I think the rumour of a Pink X on a off white background with a hint of candy strip in faded pastel is extremely sexist, shame on you, for a simple Black X on a yellow background would be quite sufficient. Those who suggested that this should be big enough to take up the entire back end of the car should be ashamed of themselves, they should be placed in the stocks and be pelted with Q tips, empty nail varnish bottles and wet wipes.

The girls in the Racing Line Seat were the winners of the Seat Sex Drive boys versus girls competition on the Fifth Gear TV show. The prize was a one-off race drive at Silverstone, so I reckon, unless any of them get the bug, this will be the first and last time you'll see them.
Well, to enter the comp in the first place they must have been interested. Hopefully everyone will welcome & encourage them to get the bug more. From what I've gleaned, the Fifth Gear competition was driving-based, but not racing, the only motoring personality among the presenters being Vicky B-H. Rob Barff was putting them through their paces at the Britcar test day.
Anyway, it's going to be a bumper grid on Saturday, in excess of 40 cars if everybody who has paid up turns up. Just one Mosler so far (Azteca), one LMP2 Prototype (Millard's Rapier), but sadly no Eclipse 430. There are two M-TECH 430s though, and, as mentioned above, Steve's Sagaris.

Quick question - was the voiding of the Saturday part of the tickets for the Caterham racers done by Britcar or by Silverstone?
As a number of people are coming to test on Friday, and then waiting until Sunday to race, I'd have thought that there was a reasonable chance of a few turning up to see how it all goes, and surely with racers there's a chance that they'll find a budget to move from their Caterham into something a bit grander in the future.
I presume it's the same deal for the Ma5das too. Leaves a slightly sour taste anyway.

Entirely understandable, I hope Britcar can help to resolve the issue as I can't see them being this petty and shortsighted. Unfortunately Silverstone deal with the tickets. The only event we have any control over the tickets for is the 24hrs, hence why we are able to do the great deals on our website at the moment such as the 2 weekend tickets for £20 and also why we are able to provide a decent number of tickets per entry. For the rest of the championship rounds it is the circuit who issue and price the tickets and allocate a number they deem suitable to the competitors.

Entry list is on Dailysportscar - 23 in GT & 21 in Prod.
Hmm, joint grids may become a bit of a problem on shorter circuits (Brands, Indy, Dark, 40 cars...)
Can't wait
The joint grid scenario is understandable dependent on your point of view, what I'm not sure about is the fact that the Production race finishes halfway through the GT race so presumably they will get a chequered flag and start to ease off for their "In" lap. That will be interesting when the rest of the GT field are still going hammer and tong so hopefully the radio's will be buzzing to warn all remaining competitors to be extremely careful or will we have yellows all round whilst the Production cars take their leave? Let's hope the bloke who got bored in the 24 hours and listened to his ipod isn't out...
I don't think Rod is concerned about how the Production guys are informed it is the end of their race - more that they may significantly reduced speed and/or switch off concentration having passed said oversized Britcar flag, causing a potential hazard to those remaining at full speed....
