My Subaru Forester

I bought this back in November after selling this modified Mk1 MX5.....



as I needed something capable of getting around in the winter. It currently shares my driveway with a Mini Cooper S...



and my OH's Fiat 500...



I was after a Disco but couldn't find one that wasn't a total spaniel for the money I wanted to spend. In the end I found this just down the road with 104k on the clock, FSH and in pretty much perfect condition. 2 owners from new and in 'keeper' spec - green to match your wellies, with black bumpers and steel wheels, an auto box and rubber fitted load liner.

I've done over 8.5k in it in just under 4 months including a trip to Toulouse, up to Scotland and 2 trips to Normandy. It needed front pads and discs last week but that's all I've spent on it other than fuel in that time. I thought the car looked particularly good in the sun outside the house so took a few pics, I know it's not the most 'PH'of cars but I'm strangely attached to it now!

Not great, high 20s most of the time and 30 on a run if you drive carefully. Performance is pretty good really though, it has been known to accidentally touch 110 on late night French motorway runs and is still quiet and comfortable at that speed.

Love Foresters, I have an import S/TB with 240 bhp. It is everything I need it to be, fast, hugely practical (especially with the current pot holes locally), was cheap to buy - so fuel costs don't hurt when I compare anything that could come close in terms of the power/practical balance.
It is a hoot to drive and no one expects it to fly off up the road the way it does. Handling was interesting before but I have added a £15 ebay Impreza STI rear arb and know it's not far off the classic impreza turbo I owned before, although steering is too light. But, incredible handling is not what it's about!!

snap, i love my forry too same as yours non turbo it refuses to break too done 135k now and its still on its 1st clutch i think and nothing else has fallen off it yet either and its been taken down so many farm lanes, up snowy hills skiing and filled with everying i can think of and it just keeps going

I think this is in fact a very "PH" vehicle! Its a performance vehicle isnt it?! Id much rather have a forester than a slow, ugly, "everybodys got one" discovery!

I wouldn't call it a performance car really, 140bhp non turbo and a 4 speed auto box is hardly fast! With hindsight I'm really glad I bought this and not a Disco though, it makes way more sense as a car than the Landie would have.

if ur looking at performance as speed then its obv not a performance vehicle. Instead look at it as a more than practical and capable soft roader with jap reliability then its more of a performance vehicle than its rivals!
