5 speed or 6 speed transmission
Discussion
I have seen 2002 911's advertised with booth 5 and 6 speed transmissions. Never realized there was an option. The one I am interested in is listed as a 5 speed. Is there anything you all can tell me about it as opposed to the 6 speed? Is one significantly better than the other. Can't say I have a preference either way. I guess the six speed may give you more versatility but 5 gears would seems to be plenty for your average driver, which I am. Thanks again for your comments, Doug
All manual 911 have had a 6 speed box since 1994.
So a 2002 manual will definitely have 6 speed.
The optional Tiptronic gearbox is 5 speed on the 996, This is the clutch free semi automatic gearchange with change facility from the steering wheel...maybe this accounts for the difference advertised.
