Is it just me that feels uncomfortable looking at the driver/occupants of the car next to me?

I mean at traffic lights for instance I find myself resolutely staring forwards and avoiding eye contact with them. I'll even pull up slightly 'out of alignment' so that the door frame obscures a clear line of sight.

Am I ready for the men in white coats or is this something everyone experiences?

Maybe you're just shy? wink

Seriously, driving is so weird. Seems to be one of the few activities where everyone wants to avoid any contact with other humans. Maybe it's being surrounded by a tin box. I find myself more open to being friendly, making eye contact in an open top or on a motorbike.

On the bike I always ride in an open face helmet. I find this is a completely different experience to a full face. The reactions from everyone else are much more friendly. Recommended it to a friend and he found the same when he switched.

It depends - if they are driving badly, then yes I do look at them to see what species they are.

I do the same - pull alongside but so that one of the pillars obscures their view of me/my view of them!

I like to have a little nosey to see if the collar (car) and cuffs (driver) match what I was expecting, like pulling up alongside a scooby and seeing someone old enough to be my grandad piloting it...

Get a lot of women driving Atoms 'round your way then? I can't imagine how else you'd be able to see a drivers' legs. hehe

I always look at people in cars, usually give them the 100 yard stare to try and intimidate them into racing me.

Sign of the times. Most people seem to equate making eye contact when in cars with bumming their wife.
