Many thanks!
Just phone around really.Many thanks!
But when you mention used...and engine oil/antifreeze come into it, some can throw a wobbler due to hazardous materials. Although that may mostly be in relation to air freight.
Maybe best just to ask about shipping a heavy object lol But slap it onto a pallet and shouldnt be hard to get moved. Try a few local Logistics/freight handlers.
As above, get it clingfilmed onto a pallet, and brought down by road.
It's slower but cheap.
Depending on where you are in europe, have a look in the local ex-pat papers. There's often people advertising space in vans to and from U.K.
Well there are in Spain anyway.
I had an engine brought down to Mallorca for £70 a few years back, but the company I bought the engine off handled it from that end.

I had a EURO pallet shipred from belgium to Croatia last summer, with some gearboxes and diffs on it.. It was a flat fee, about 170 EURO + customs, etc, which will not be aplicable within EU..
I used a major local road shipping company, with partners all over europe, and they usually charge a flat fee, regardless of weight, per euro pallet. Took 5 days...
avoid postal services and courierrs..
you can try Lagermax, or someone similar..

Done it twice Cambridge to Toulouse. Make sure it's on a pallet and well wrapped in clingfilm and either ring round a few local hauliers or try these people.

Sort of like a backwards auction in that the hauliers bid for your work. Had some good reports.
Also used a French website, www.angloinfo.fr an internet newspaper with ads for hauliers among other stuff. Depends where you want to deliver to of course, Anglo info's not much use if you want to send it to say Germany.
