Gents,

I've just upgraded to Sky+ HD, so now have the old Sky+ box spare.

I wanted to use it in the bedroom, but I've only got a standard aerial feed into the room, and the sky card is in the new box. Is there anything I can do with the old box to get it working, or is it just an ornament now?

I have an old Pace box that works very well as a Freesat receiver without a card.

ETA you need to buy a quad LNB though so you can buzz it a sat feed.

You could subscribe to Sky multi-room, thinks it's an extra £10 a month? Will give you all you have on your main box.

Or you could get a 'Freesat From Sky' card which costs £25.00

Or, as said, you can run it without a card and get limited free channels.

What ever you do you'll need two feeds from a dish, you may need a quad LNB if you use the existing dish.

If he has Sky+ HD he will already have a Quad LNB... Although Possibly an old one on an old dish depending on the laziness of the installer/Impossible amount of jobs sky expected him to do that day!.

Whip your card out of the HD box, Flick through the channels. What you see on the HD box then is what you'll get if you just whack the sky+ box onto another feed.

If you want the free channels that are missing (Dave springs to mind) Get a Freesat from sky card.

If you want subscription channels, Get Sky Multiroom.

If your going down the self-install/get a local aerial guy to run a lead and use the sky+ box as a freesat box route don't bother with the second feed - It isn't needed, Recording only works with a subscription - Just make sure the feed is plugged into Input 1. If you then decide to upgrade to multiroom sky will send an engineer out to install it properly (Well, "Properly").

Simples! (I hope.)
