Holiday ideas - Nice Beach/Good food/Relaxing
Discussion
Afternoon all
Currently trying to plan a holiday for myself and the other half this summer (early July). We'd like somewhere reasonably cheap (prob £600 each for the week) that has a nice beach, nice restaurants and is not too hectic. Something interesting to do for a couple of day trips would be nice as well. Hotel wise we dont need anything too fancy, definitely not some huge place with 15 pools and 12 restaurants and a kids club. Just a nice pool will do, maybe with nice views, B&B preferred....
So far considered:
Sicily : Bit expensive, not sure which area to try
Greece: Dont know which area/island. Santorini looks nice.
Croatia: Should be cheap, but again dont know which place to go to.
Any other ideas? Something a bit different would be nice, especially if the local food is nice....

Kefalonia, simply the best. I think it is definately the prettiest of all the greek islands and there are some good deals to be had. A private rental villa I stayed in last year has missed getting into this years holiday home guide and they're offering a 5 bed house for £35 per occupant/per day. Halkidiki is nice, but only the middle prong. The left prong (most westerly) is a bit chavvy. I stayed at the Porto Carras resort last year. The Aegean is so still and clear that even a mediocre swimmer can swim a mile out without fear. Very relaxing place, but you'll need a car if you get stir crazy. Santorini does look nice, however it's all cliff top and the beaches are difficult to reach. Makes for great views, but beaches are rocky and rare.
