Looking for a Griffith 500 +can you re-colour the interior ?

Hi

I think this is a great forum with lots of useful info. I have recently sold my Super 7 and am now exited to take on the challenge of a Griffith 500. I have been following the market since some time and seen some nice cars but have so far not been lucky, so if anybody is considering selling their car in the lower price range then please send me a note.

I was also wondering if it is possible to change the colour of the interior. I have seen that you can purchase some re-colouring kits for the leather - does it work - any experience ? (I guess you should always go to a darker colour like black)

You can change the colour of the interior but only if its full leather. The half leather option can be tricky with the mix of vinyl and leather. I did mine with the furniture clinic leather recolouring kit and you can change from a dark to light colour if needed as its not a dye its a paint.
This is mine. It was a light beige/green and now is Jag cream

With this paint stuff what is the material finish like. Still soft to touch etc?

The leather is just as soft and pliable as the origional.

Wow that is amazing from where I'm sitting. Daft question but how do you think it would be going blue to black? Cheers for that Chris.

I would imagine that blue to black would be fairly easy. The majority of the work is preping the the leather and making sure you get all of the old top coat off before spraying on the new colourant. there is a video on youtube from furniture clinic on the precess links here

same as Chris, but I did the vinyl as well after asking FC, not a difficult thing per se, but time consuming removing all the items if you want it to look original, the transformation of the cracked seats is simply amazing.

eta - Chris, any ideas where the Ally/silver plastic stereo surround came from? need one after I've Matte finished my veneer.

Fearless yes but that means stupid (most of the time)
Patient yes I am quite often a patient at A&E for being stupid

I’ve seen him cut his hard top in 2 to make a split roof… Just chopped it in half with a saw!! Definitely fearless!!

Watching those video's very empowering!

Here's my dilemma. Mine has blue leather dash, cream leather door surrounds, creamy leather seats. After I run out of leather I have to consider the vinyl or whatever it is. That's a T piece, screen surrounds, underside rear hood and whatever else I've missed. Does this stuff work on vinyl? If not is there an FC product for vinyl that matches the finish of FC's leather colourings? I guess I need to ring them. Thanks for all the info. Done a bit of research into the Furniture Clinic stuff, which is probably ok long term on leather that doesn't get sat on. Gliptone have a lot to say about how colouring leather should be done and it is not the Furniture Clinic way, so I'm going Gliptone with mine as I believe that's where the quality and longevity are.
