Sorry. Not sure what you mean by trim. Aren't they just a frame, latch and glass?

As 300bhp & Craig have said, its not trim, its the whole frame that will need replacing. New loads of money, secondhand £100-150 and easier to replace as it will be complete. I have just had to buy another one (secondhand) as mine should have central locking but hasn't, quite a few for sale but because of the size/glass I waited till one came up locally.

Cheers guys, yes it is the frame I need to replace, anyone know what sort of a job it is to replace the frame?

It depends how competent you are with mechanics smile

If you get a second hand unit then you'll only be looking at the heated screen connections on each top corner and 4 machine screws on the hinges. These *can* be stubborn and you might end up having to drill them out and replace. If so it might be a good idea to replace them with stainless items.

yes The one on my car has the stainless bolts, the one I've just bought still has the hinges on it, only two nuts on the inside above the headling to bolt it on the car.

I replaced mine with one of these and it's great although it took most of the day to complete.

This coming Sunday, 3rd April there is a Landrover autojumble at Newbury, at last years event there were several secondhand Ally tailgates for sale and one stall had new ones.

£250 seems to ring a bell? All the existing furniture comes off the existing tailgate so you need to be carefull removing it. The only thing that may be wise to replace (I didn't and wish I had) is the main rubber seal between upper and lower gates. Total bh to get off intact.
Look at your tool kit before starting as once started you can't secure the vehicle until the job is done. You will need a rivet gun for instance.
