Cat C repairable?........What do you think?

As per the title this is being described as a cat C repairable.Now im usually an open minded sort of bloke...but this repairable...what do you think.

Hi , just be aware that the price on the auction/sale is for the engine only , not the whole wreck.

I know we all have to make a living and i'm all up for rescuing TVR's but christ, surely this car should be destroyed?

I apologise i was unaware of the tragedy involved with this vehicle.Please by all means remove this post if it offends. The car in question should be scrapped.

No need to apologise Thomas, you weren't to know.

I just find it incredible that a car that has gone through such a crash and has had two people die as a result would be sold on by an insurance company to a salvage dealer.

Umm yeahhh.... advert should never have been put uplike that.

On a lighter note, there is damaged 4.3 about on the net, saw it last night just can't remember where... dark grey with silver shelby stripes, red leather which looks like it has seen better days, front end damage... that was about £6.5k

This 5L griff for sale by tvr dean has just been sold on a salvage auction site in the last few days, I wasn,t able to check the selling price but not a lot!

I'm not sure who I am more angry/sad with! The insurance company or the eBay seller!

I am so so angry the seller is trying to sell this car/engine, they will probably claim ignorance to the story behind it. They deal in ALOT of TVR salvage, trying to monopolies the market.

Deal with Bell Hill or buy new from TVR Power, or other dealers.

This car should have been destroyed:-

Out of respect for the people that sadly lost there lives.
It is not economically repairable, it needs a new sell or a patchwork quilt of repairs.
No one will want anything to do with salvage where life has sadly been lost.

Grrrrrr, steer clear.

Very sobering thought to imagine a Griff could end up like that at what we likely enjoy as usual speed when getting on a bit. Surely not. Unless that Griff hit a forest at 100 plus I fail to understand what the circumstances were that could do so much damage. Very sad to see and terribly tragic.

My first Griff looked like that, except it didnt roll crushing the roof/screen...i was bloody lucky to to survive. Looking at this car there is no way that that is a Cat C! the tub is totalled and i can't see that the chassis would not have been twisted like mine was from those pictures.

Offside front tyre suggests more than the overall damage. Takes a lot of speed to destroy a tyre like that. Other rims filled with grass. Must have ben sliding / spinning for some distance from high speed. To understand it makes me wonder what the driver was doing.

Please show some respect, the driver and passenger paid the highest price. They could of been driving at low speeds, Griffs are hard cars to handle at any speed and the Windscreen has no structural a pillars, if it went into a crash barrier or low branch even at 30-40 mph, bye bye windscreen.

I believe this happened on a bright frosty morning, no matter what speed you are doing(read slow here), once you reach the green stuff in those conditions you are a passenger and its gonna hurt cos trees and armco dont get out of your way.

Does seem this particular spares outlet show little moral at all.

They have a silver Chimaera for sale that was crashed less than 1/2 mile from my house, and was written off due to chassis damage, yet no mention of it on the ad.....
