Now, me and my MX5 have a love/hate relationship.

Sometimes we get on well.. And others, it just annoys me. But, does anyone else think with the roof down these cars look real girly? Whenever I take pictures of it, the roof is usually on but windows open as it just looks better..

Or, is it just mine..

That does look very cool!

What bar is that?

Maybe that's why, I haven't a roll bar at all..

I've got to say, I do prefer that enclosed feeling you get when you leave the roof up. All the same, driving with the roof down is great (as long as you wind the windows down too). At the end of the day, the girls will be flocking to the car when you've got the roof down, so don't worry if it doesn't look quite as manly as an AMG Hammer!

Just you dude, I love the roof off on my car and I am by no means girly! I get a few hair dresser comments but its cos they are jealous and secretly want one.

I've never had any comments.. But I just think it looks girly when the roof is down hehe

Like when I'm at the petrol station and I look over at it.. Definitely looks cooler with the roof up.

I think it looks girly with the roof up. Only a girl would drive a convertible sportscar with the top up as "it messes up my hair" wink
A real man drives with the top down all the time and doesn't give a f*** what anyone else says or thinks biggrin

Rollbars certainly help the look. As does snow...

(on that occasion I had a farmer wind his window down to tell me "you must have balls of steel"... pretty sure that isn't girly!)

Of course it looks girly. It's a hairdresser's car...

... No, really biggrin

Since hair dressers are both male and female, the association to girly is lacking in empirical evidence. Can you please explain your logic (show working where necessary)?

All male hairdressers are queens. I took "girly" and "as gay as Reg Dwight" to be synonymous tongue out

I think mine looks much better with the hard top on. With the hard top off and the soft top up it looks terrible. It looks ok topless, but its mainly down to the roll bar I think.

The spare, completely standard NB looks thooper ghey with the roof down.

Roof down any chance possible for me.

Objectively though I think they look smart either way, as they were purpose designed as a soft top, so up or down suits. A lot of cars tend to look pretty awkward, like the soft top was a total afterthought, but I think the 5 avoids this whether the roof is raised or lowered.
