A friend of mine recently collected a new C63 from Stuttgart

Having run the car in last week he attended a track day at the 'Ring last weekend. It now transpires the car already needs new front discs and pads - the front pads having broken into 2 pieces and damaged the discs!

Fortunately the stuff's covered by the warranty, but I'm not sure anyone else has encountered such issues with a new car?

Thanks for reading and your comments.

It's not a track car!!

He's very very lucky, and I advise him not to mention the track work!

I'm pretty sure the German supplying dealer was fully expecting track use, especially with the Performance Pack added. After last weekend, the tyres certainly show they're scrubbed.

Anyone had similar issues with their AMG models?

A C63 isnt designed for the track. Its way too heavy and the pads are too soft. I am suprised they lasted so long on track:-)

Very lucky if he gets them done under warranty

I've got a 2010 C63 with Performance pack and Drivers pack and no issues with brakes.

I seriously doubt MB will sort the brakes out under warranty if the car has been tracked. It took me long enough to get a replacement wheel when the laquer peeled. Abuse from track use is definately not covered even if the dealer is aware.

Pads breaking in two is not normal wear and tear, even if it's on track - it's a failure of the part.

Well, the car's back.

It originally went in to have a wheel checked, as a potential warranty claim, as the factory black wheels had a paint defect. The dealer sent pics of the pads & discs to the factory and they approved the claim.

Discs & pads replaced under warranty (€2,700 I'm told) and a new wheel's been ordered, also under a warranty claim.

Congrats to him....I had a warranty on one of my 19' black wheels. The laquer had failed badly around the rim. Took them a while to sort but did no problems.

Well done..Merc have been known to be pretty bad here in the UK with warranty claims but seems to have changed lately....
